Have you heard about the Supreme Court ruling in the R. v. Jordan case?

This is the most devastating issue facing our justice system today. It is the Supreme Court’s recent ruling to limit trial time to 18 months in provincial court and 30 months in superior courts.

As a result of this ruling, already three people charged with first-degree murder have been allowed to go free. Hundreds more, including sex offenders and drug traffickers, are set to follow the same path if their trials cannot be completed within the time limit.

This is no way to deliver justice.

Letting serious offenders go free is an affront to our society and it is making a mockery of our justice system. It is causing more fear and suffering among the victims and is putting our communities at risk.

A big part of the problem is that this Trudeau-lead Liberal government has been negligent in appointing judges. There are currently 55 federally-appointed vacant positions at this time, more than at any other time in recent memory.

As Prime Minister –

I will make sure are justice system is truly a “justice” system.

I will make sure that vacancies of judges are filled within 90 days of opening.

I will make sure that the rights of victims are put first.
